Some places are discovered with the eyes. Others, with the palate. And some, like Hacienda Zorita, need time to be truly discovered.
On the banks of the Tormes and just a few minutes from Salamanca, Hacienda Zorita Wine Hotel is a place where history, nature, gastronomy and wine come together as part of a single experience.
This is our first post and, perhaps for that very reason, the best way to begin is by introducing ourselves.
What is Hacienda Zorita Wine Hotel?
Hacienda Zorita is a historic hotel in an exceptional setting, but it is also much more than a place to stay.
It is a starting point for discovering Salamanca and its surroundings. For enjoying nature, sitting down at the table, getting to know local produce and exploring the wines made in our land.
Our name includes the word Wine because wine is an essential part of our identity. But there is something important we want to share from the very beginning:
We do not have our own wine.
Our approach is different. Hacienda Zorita Wine Hotel is an oenological space for discovering the wines of the region, meeting the people who make them and exploring the diversity and character of the wines of Salamanca and Castilla y León.
We believe wine is one of the best ways to get to know a territory. A glass can speak of its landscape, its climate, its grape varieties and the people who work every day to turn all of that into something we can enjoy.
The territory also takes a seat at the table
The other great way to get to know a place is through its gastronomy.
At Zorita’s Kitchen, our restaurant, we are committed to cuisine that is connected to its surroundings and to locally sourced produce.
Zero-mile sourcing is part of our philosophy: working with seasonal products, valuing local producers and letting the ingredients take centre stage.
We want a meal at Zorita’s Kitchen to also be a way of discovering where we are. We want the flavours to speak of Salamanca, its landscape and its way of understanding food.
And, naturally, we want every dish to find its perfect match among the wines we discover and select from our surroundings.
A story still being written
Hacienda Zorita holds centuries of history within its walls.
Its past is deeply linked to Salamanca and is part of the estate’s unique character. But our story does not end there.
Today we want to keep creating experiences around everything that makes this place special: the Tormes, nature, gastronomy, wine, culture and people.
Because preserving a story also means continuing to write it.
