A first taste of Arribes del Duero, guided by JoaquÃn Gallo, owner of Dominio de Gallo, in an experience where wine, local heritage and autumn gastronomy come together at the table.
There is something special about hearing the story behind a wine from the person who brought it to life. Each glass takes on a new dimension, the details become more meaningful, and the experience goes beyond aromas and flavours.
From 15 to 18 October, Hacienda Zorita Wine Hotel welcomed Dominio de Gallo, a winery from Arribes del Duero, to open our autumn Wine Days. It was a few days dedicated to wine, to the land and, above all, to the people behind every bottle.
Discovering wine through the person who makes it
The tasting was led by JoaquÃn Gallo, owner of the winery, who shared his knowledge and his own perspective on wine. Hearing directly from the winemaker offers a different point of view: it brings us closer to the project, reveals the story behind each wine and helps us understand how every bottle reflects a place and a particular way of working.
It was an opportunity to slow down, listen, ask questions and discover. Because enjoying wine is also about understanding where it comes from and the stories that accompany it.
Insolente, Infrecuente and Aún
Three wines took centre stage during this first gathering: Insolente, Infrecuente and Aún.
Through these wines, we discovered the approach of Dominio de Gallo and the character of Arribes, a wine-growing region with a distinctive identity. The tasting reminded us that behind every wine lie thoughtful decisions, expertise and a unique relationship with the land.
And when the person who makes the wine shares their experience, every glass becomes an opportunity to learn and see wine from a different perspective.
Autumn, served at the table
At Zorita’s Kitchen, the experience continued with a cuisine that celebrates the ingredients of the season. Mushrooms, game and locally sourced seasonal produce inspire our special autumn menu, created to complement the wines and showcase the flavours each season has to offer.
Wine and food share something essential: both tell stories of origin, time and the people whose work brings each product to life. Coming together at the table is a natural way to discover this connection.
Salamanca, from vineyard to table
The visit from Dominio de Gallo marked the beginning of our Wine Days, which run until 15 November and offer the opportunity to discover wineries from Salamanca and its surrounding wine region.
What stays with us is the value of sharing a conversation about wine, the opportunity to listen to JoaquÃn Gallo and the pleasure of discovering, once again, everything a glass can tell us about the place it comes from.
Because sometimes, getting to know a region begins with something as simple as sitting down at the table and listening to its story.
